Stanley Curtis Banks, 72, of Chestnut Street, died Sept. 1, 2003, at his home after a sudden illness.


He was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Massachusetts, the son of the late Alfred and Bertha Shaw Banks. He was raised in Massachusetts and had been a longtime resident of Exeter.


He was a U.S. Navy veteran.


Mr. Banks was a mechanic for Perkins Construction in Raymond.


In his younger years he spent time as a race car driver and mechanic while living in the South.


He enjoyed making leather products.


The widower of Irma Banks, who died in 1992, he is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Ellsworth, and Lynda Zych, both of Seabrook; two sons, Bruce Banks of Nottingham, and Robert Banks of Manchester; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, alister Banks of Maine; one sister, Mildred Ladd of Munson, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
