John Peter Snyder was the son of Israel Snyder, Sr. and Salome Zimmerman.

He married Ellen "Ella" Snyder abt 1880.

Peter was stricken with apoplexy while plowing his field and later died at his home in Winslow Township, Jefferson Co., PA.

He was buried 25 Nov 1906.

STRICKEN WHILE PLOWING.

J. P. Snyder Died From Stroke of Apoplexy -- Funeral Sunday.

Peter Snyder, a farmer who resided a few miles out from Reynoldsville, was stricken with apoplexy last Thursday afternoon while in field plowing and died about four hours afterward without regaining consciousness. Between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. Mr. Snyder was seen to fall in the field by two men who were driving along the road. By assistance of a neighbor he was taken to his home and at 7:50 that evening he expired.

J.P. Snyder was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Israel Snyder. He was born in Pinecreek township, Jefferson county, March 4, 1848, and died November 22, 1906, making him 58 years, 8 month and 18 days old at time of death. Some years ago he was married to Miss Ella Snyder, daughter of J. B. Snyder. Unto them four children were born, two of whom preceded their father into that "borne from whence no traveler e'er returns." He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Scott Burkett, of Vandergrift, and Mrs. Olie Stewart, at home. He is also survived by his parents, three brothers and four sisters, Sebastine, Israel, Henry and Joel Snyder, Mrs. Kate Foltz, Lena Snyder, Mrs. Homer Schuckers.

Peter Snyder was known to a large number of townspeople, as he had been doing his trading here for a number of years.

Funeral service was held in the Emerickville Luthern church Sunday afternoon and interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery at Emerickville. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. J.C. McEntire, of Reynoldsville.
