Death of Wm. James.
After a severe illness of some time, Wm. James died at his home a mile or two from Newton, Tuesday evening at 3 o'clock, at a ripe old age. Mr. James was a native of Tennessee, where he was born December 27, 1826. He moved to Mississippi in 1830 and made Jasper county his home until 1904, when he came to Newton County. He had been a member of the methodist church for forty-five years, and was a good man and citizen. He is survived by a wife, five sons and one daughter, who with numerous friends mourn their loss. The funeral services took place at the residence yesterday morning at 9:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. P. D. Hardin, and the remains were interred in the city cemetery in Newton.
