James J. Snyder, 80, of Dora, Punxsutawney R.D. 4, died Friday, J anuary 8, 1993 at home.
Mr. Snyder was born September 4, 1912 in Dora, the son of James C. and Laura (Brocious) Snyder. He married the former Letha Elkin. He was a steamfitter with Union Local No. 449 of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Dora Evangelical Church, Punxsutawney Masonic Lodge, Coudersport Consistory and Altoona Shrine. He lived most of his life in Dora.
He is survived by his wife, Letha Snyder; two daughters: Mrs. Lyle (Lorena) Barrett of Dayton, and Mrs. Richard (Betty Lou) Barker of Kittanning R.D. 6; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and six sisters: Mrs. NeIl Doverspike of Aliquippa, Mrs. Willovene Hetrick of Kittanning, Mrs. Dwight (Montrose) Elkin of Cortland, Ohio, Mrs. Clair (Helen) Adams of Punxsutawney, Mrs. Wade (Alice) McCoy of Aliquippa, and Mrs. Louise Smith of Brookvillc.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Emma Gould Snyder; three brothers: Hoarse [sic: Horace] Snyder, Ellis Snyder and Joseph Snyder; and three sisters: Mrs. Gertrude Fry, Mrs. Myrna Soisson and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Frank 0. Bly Funeral Home of Dayton. The Rev. Kenneth Alt will officiate. Interment will be at Dora Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
