He was the son of Lot Bassett and Deborah Howes Bassett, who came from Yarmouth to Ashfield.

He married Polly Trow on Jan 15,1818.

He married, second, on May 30,1823, Persis Townsley.

Children: William Otis Bassett and Mary Trow Bassett Corner-Ludden.

NOTE: The lower photo is of the monument for their son William Otis Bassett and his wife in East Hawley Cemetery. William and Polly are recorded on the monument as a cenotaph memorial. They are actually buried in Doane.
