From "The History of Schley County, Georgia," compiled and sponsored by the Schley County Preservation Society, c. 1982, W H Wolfe Associates, Roswell, Ga p. 407:

"Mr. Williams was a merchant in Ellaville for 45 years and was one of the best known men in the section. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was a Steward for 25 years. He was one of the leading and most prominent businessmen of the town. The matter of dire need of anyone, whether a worthy or unworthy case, invariable received his active and substantial help. He was a Trustee of the Ellaville Public School for many years and was an ardent supporter of every progressive undertaking or civic activity of Ellaville."

One of his several siblings, his sister Sallie, is buried in the same plot as H. J. Williams…her's is an unmarked slab and is Memorial 262003438.
