Funeral services for Christeen Dinkens Mourad of Minden will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Minden. Officiating will be Father Mark Franklin. Interment will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden.

The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 27.

Chris was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Powell, Tenn. and she passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 25, 2009.

Chris joined the United States Navy in 1950, and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where she met the love of her life, United States Marine SSGT George Mourad. They married in Hawaii and have been together for 56 years.

Chris was an avid collector, and she enjoyed working in her yard. The most important thing in the world to "MeMo" was her family.

Chris is survived by her husband, George Mourad, and her five children and their spouses, Kalani and Rick Merrill, Renee and Jimmy Stewart, Kip and Jenny Mourad, Kathy and Winky Newer, and Kim and Buddy Lott. "MeMo" is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Jamie Stewart Gressett and husband Dan, Klint Newer, Ryan Stewart and wife Brandie, Emily Mourad, Jared Mourad, Michael Lott, and Camille Lott. Also surviving Chris are her brother-in-law Bobby Mourad and wife Janice; her sister, Betty Ackerman and husband Bill; her brother, Gaines Dinkens and wife Diane and her brother, Clarence Dinkens. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Chris is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Dorothy Dinkens and her brother, Cordell Dinkens.

Honoring Chris by serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Klint Newer, Ryan Stewart, Jared Mourad, Michael Lott, grandson-in-law, Dan Gressett, and special family friend, Larry Riffle.

Memorials in memory of the life of Chris Mourad may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis or to the charity of the donor's choice.
