FRONTENAC - Anne V. Wachter, 92, of Frontenac, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg. She was born Sept. 16, 1911, at Frontenac to Frank and Kathryn McCall Wachter.

She was a lifelong resident of Frontenac. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and was a 1930 graduate of Frontenac High School. She received a bachelor of science in education degree in 1946 and a master of science in education degree in 1956, both from Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg.

She was in the teaching and education field all of her working life. She taught elementary school for 16 years in Frontenac. After receiving her master's degree, she became Frontenac Junior High School principal but still taught in a variety of class levels.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, the Frontenac Altar Society, KNEA, and KRTA, and attended perpetual adoration.

Survivors include a niece, Susan Loar of San Carlos, Fla., who helped provide for her care; a great-niece; and a great-great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Francis Wachter.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Donald Thissen as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, where the family will receive friends following the rosary until 8 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home after noon Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of Friskel Funeral Home.
