Joseph Collins married Abigail Byram after 1790. Abigail Byram is the daughter of Edward and Phoebe Ann Coe Byram.

Joseph Collins and Abigail Byram children are:

Elizabeth Byram b. 1793
Sarah Byram b. 1795
Joseph Collins Jr. b. 1799
James Collins b. 1800
William Swain Collins b. 1801
Abigail Collins b. 1803
Jane Collins b. 1805
Phoebe Collins b. 1807

Joseph Collins was born on the E shore of Maryland, near Snow Hill. Joseph was a private in Capt. James Leech Co, Westmorland Co PA Militia in the Revolutionary War.
He and an uncle came to Washington Co PA.

He became a member and Ruling Elder of the Presbyterian Church at Long Run in 1798. He served as Col of the Militia and is said to have established the first camp for Annual Drill at Clover Hill.

Joseph served in the war of 1812 serving for six months, from 5 May to 5 Nov 1813. The Capt of his Co was D. McCowan and the Col of his Regiment was Hill Rees.

After Joseph died, Abigail first lived with William S. Collins and later with her son-in-law William Greer, PA.

Byram-Crawford and Allied Families states:

Joseph Collins b. 1762, d. April 3, 1814, aged fifty-two years, and was buried at Long Run, Pa. He came from the Eastern shore of Maryland, near Snow Hill where he was born, with an uncle to Washington County, Pa., and thence to Westmoreland. He was a member and Ruling Elder of the Presbyterian church at Long Run in 1798.

He served as Colonel of the Militia and is said to have established the first camp for Annual Drill at Clover Hill. There has been a question, among his descendents, whether or not he was an enlisted solider in the War of 1812. Records show that "Joseph Collins was in the service for six months, from May 5, 1813 to Nov. 5, 1813". The Captain of his Company was D. McCowan and the Colonel of the Regiment was Hill Rees. One of their marches was to Erie, Pa.

Abby survived her husband in widowhood for thirty-seven years and was buried at Marrysville, Pa., where she had membership in the Presbyterian church for many years and was a devout and faithful member.

Note: My original Family Name was Byram, but a census taker changed the name from Byram to Byrum.
