On 10 Mar 1846, Peter paid $425.00 for a 100 acre farm in Porter (area now part of Ringgold) Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
Prior to Farming, he had been a School Teacher and would later donate some of his land in Ringgold Township for an elementary school.
The 'Dinger Elementary School' founded in his name was in operation until 1947, when it was closed due to low enrollment.
Peter died in Ringgold Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
His wife, Esther, died the following day. They were laid side-by-side in the same casket and buried at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Ringgold Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
