Parents were Daniel and Elizabeth Dreher/Drayer Bastian. Joseph was born 28 Oct 1832 in Northumberland County, PA and was killed in the Civil War Battle at Petersburg on July 4, 1864. He was married to a Cinderella Christ according to our relation. He had a daughter, Susan Elizabeth (Eliza) Bastian who was born 26 Jan 1861 in PA and died in San Diego, CA 9 May 1940. Her married name was Whitzel. Her husband was William Perry Whitzel (sometimes spelled Weitzel) who was born 9 May 1849 in Cherry, Pennsylvania and died 5 Jan 1911 in North Baltimore, Wood County, OH. He is buried in Maplewood Cemetery in that city.
