"In 1818 Thomas F. Baird settled on section 3 and was elected Justice of the Peace in 1830. His second wife now owns the farm. In the first regular election held for township officers, Thomas was elected one of the Constables. The election was held on 7 April 1817." On the 1870 plat map of Jefferson Township, Tho. Baird is listed as the owner of 160 acres (SE quarter of Section 15). Today what was his farm is part of the 20,000 acre, Salt Fork State Park.
