Bessie V. Lopez, age 82, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., and former resident of Gonzales Ranch, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at the Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center, following an extended illness.
She was born in Lagunita, N.M., on Jan. 25, 1927, to the late Aurelio Vigil and Predicanda Gonzales Vigil.
She was united in marriage at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M., on April 27, 1957, to Joe C. Lopez.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Aurelio and Predicanda Vigil and her husband: Joe C. Lopez on Jan. 26, 2009.
She is survived by brothers and sisters: Luis Vigil of Amarillo, Texas, Richard Vigil and wife Carol of Portales, N.M., Albert Vigil and wife Mary of Rocky Ford, Colo., Leo Vigil of Los Montoyas, N.M., Dulcinea Trujillo and husband File of Las Vegas, N.M., Josie Ulibarri and husband George of Santa Rosa, N.M., Rose Lucero and husband Tito of Manzanola, Colo., and Corrine Salas and husband Joe of Clovis, N.M.; sisters-in-law: Piedad Blea husband Max and Julia Aragon all of Portales, N.M., Josefina Lopez of Canyon, Texas and Ramona Lopez of Muleshoe, Texas; brother-in-law: Zenon Lopez and wife Pina of Canyon, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Gonzales Ranch Cemetery.
