Cleona Florence Hurlbut, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 19, in Klamath Falls.

She was born Cleona Florence Johnson, in Richfield, Idaho, to Neils and Florence Johnson. She lived in Idaho until the family moved to Butte Valley when she was a teenager.

She met and married Robert Eugene Hurlbut in 1933. They then moved to Klamath Falls in 1934.

Mrs. Hurlbut reared four children of her own and took in and cared for more than 20 foster children, one of whom was adopted.

She was a homemaker and active in the First Baptist. She worked in the church nursery and kitchen.

Surviving are her husband; sons and daughters-in-law, Myron and Nancy, Franklin, TN, JOe and Debbie, Klamath Falls; daughers and sons-in-law, Reina and Charles Beard, Los Gatos, CA, Beverly and Winford Turner, Claremore, OK, and Helen and William Pryor, Klamath Falls; foster daughters and their husbands, Isabel and Ralph Welch, Bonanza, and Bonna and Ben Pool, Bly; brother, Theodore Johnson, Dorris; sister, Nora Waite, Gridley, CA; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchidren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, three sisters and one granddaughter.
