Earl, the son of Richard Johnson Nickell and Mary D. Nickell, had three brothers, Rollie F., James Garrett and Robert Glen; one sister, Grace (died as an infant); and three half-brothers, Ova J., Denzel Ray and Warren Lee (last two were twins).

Earl married Alice Loreen Weller, 23 Jun 1923, in St. Joseph, Berrien Co., MI. They had three sons, Marshall Wayne (died as an infant), Willis E. and Cecil Dean.

Earl and Loreen lived in Rochester, IN from 1923 to 1932, then moved to a farm located 6.5 miles west of Rochester, Fulton Co., IN on state road 14.

Earl Nickell, 62, R.R. 4, Rochester, died about 9 a.m. today while feeding hogs on his farm five miles west of Rochester on Ind. 14. His wife found the body at 9:30 a.m. Rites are pending at the Foster & Good funeral home.

Last rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Foster & Good funeral home for Earl Nickell, 62, R.R. 4, Rochester, who died at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday (December 1, 1964) at his home five miles west of Rochester on Ind. 14. The Rev. Allen Byrne will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. Mr. Nickell's death came unexpectedly while he was at work in the barn lot. His wife discovered his body about 10 minutes after he was stricken fatally. Dr. Howard Rowe, county coroner, ruled that death came from a coronary occlusion.

Born in Ezel, KY., March 25, 1902, Mr. Nickell was the son of Richard and Mary Nickell Nickell and had spent most of his life in this county. His marriage was June 23, 1923, at St. Joseph, (Berrien Co.) MI., to Loreen Weller, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Willis, Indianapolis and Cecil, East Lansing, MI.; three grandchildren and a brother, Warren, R.R. 4, Rochester. Preceding in death were four brothers.
