Della Dykes, 68, Elizabethtown, Ind., died unexpectedly at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 1988, at her home in Elizabethtown.
She was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Somerset, Ky., the daughter of William P. and Mary Bolton Barnes. She was the widow of Raymond Dykes, who died May 29, 1974. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Hope, Ind.
She is survived by three sons, Shelby Dykes, Greensburg, Charles Dana Dykes, North Vernon, Ind., and Ronnie Dykes, Florida; five daughters, Irene Graham, Alabama, Betty Johnson, Bloomington, Ind., Dorothy Bragg, North Vernon, Ind., Bonnie Dykes, Brown County, Ind., Charlene Dykes, Columbus, Ind.; (f)our brothers, George H., Edward C. and Hermon Barnes, all three of Somerset, Ky., and Cleamon Barnes, Illinois; two sisters, Verla Baker, Dayton, Ohio, and Althena Mounce, Shelbyville, Ind.; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hope, Ind., Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Ray Hotle officiating.
Burial will be in the Flat Rock Cemetery in Shelby County, Ind.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Norman Funeral Home, Hope, Ind., and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
