Doris Hicks Roberts, 84, of Spotsylvania County died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Mary Washington Hospital while recuperating from heart surgery.
Mrs. Roberts was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother, who also found time to serve others in the community. She was a volunteer at Mary Washington Hospital for 15 years.
Mrs. Roberts also was a founding member of Eastland United Methodist Church, where she was a member for over 50 years. She was the widow of Willie J. Roberts, who died in 1992.
Survivors include her three children, Juanita Robinson and Agnes Labbe and her husband, Dan, all of Spotsylvania County, and Willie Roberts and his wife, Debbie, of Franklinton, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Terry R. Guevara, Janice Robinson-Hughes, Lisa Cecil, Kimberly Donecker, Allison Day, Alicia Bartlett and Willie T. Roberts; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a brother, Randolph A. Hicks of Spotsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews, four of whom she raised after the death of their parents, Nelson, Lucille, John and Nannie Lee. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by one grandchild, Michael Lambert.
