Clarence William Oliver is the same person as William Oliver Kennedy of South Carolina. He was the son of Thomas Kennedy and Martha Elizabeth Pilkington of Wilcox Co., Alabama.

He served in the Civil War for Alabama and afterwards went to Texas. Shortly after returning home, William and his brother, John, were accused of murder. They both left Alabama. John later returned home and found out that the real murderer confessed and they were cleared of all charges.

William stopped in Copiah, Wesson, Kentucky. There he was known as William Oliver. There he met and married Laura Jane Rebecca Storey by Rev. Woodbridge.

They moved to Texas, along with Laura's family. There became known as Clarence William Oliver. After moving to different counties, they finally settled in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas. They raised their family there.

He was a blacksmith by trade and owned a blacksmith shop in Weatherford. At sometime, he turned over the blacksmith shop to his son, Edgar Guy Oliver.

William/Clarence and Laura moved to Midlothian, Ellis County.
