OKOLONA - L. C. Brooks, 75, died, Saturday, January 21, 2001 at Shearer Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona, where he had resided for the past five years. He was born in Alcorn County on March 17, 1925, to the late Joel Brooks and Verlon Rinehart Brooks. He worked on the river boats on the Mississippi River all of his working life. He lived in Corinth before moving to the Okolona area 10 years ago.
Services were held Monday, January 22, 2001 at Okolona Funeral Home with Bro. Wyndell Sidebottom officiating. Burial was in Boone's Chapel Cemetery. Lee Memorial/
Okolona Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include five children, Wanda McCollum and her husband Frank, of New Albany, Kathy Parchman and her husband Charles, of Shannon, Eddie Brooks and his wife,and Melba, and Robbie Brooks and his wife Peggy,all of Okolona and Michelle Brooks of Louisiana; their mother, Ruby Brooks of Okolona; two sisters, Edna Rogers and Fannie Mae Spencer of Corinth; three brothers, V. O. Brooks and Grady Brooks, both of Corinth and Joel Brooks of West Memphis, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two great, great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, C. B. Brooks, who died September 1999.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
