* Her maiden name was Graham and she was the wife of Junius Goodwin. (Per Quietly Resting #47077524)

* MRS. J. GOODWIN DIED SUNDAY WAS ONE OF THE OLD PIONEER MOTHERS OF COMMUNITY - SETTLED HERE IN 1871. Funeral Services Were Held At Parsons Monday - Interment In Edna Cemetery. Very few of the pioneer fathers and mothers who located near Edna in the seventies are left, and in the passing of Aunt Caroline Goodwin, as she was affectionately called, the number has again been lessened. She had lived to see nearly all of the many who came from the community in which she was born, to settle on the prairies of Labette county, laid to rest. All who knew Aunt Caroline will never forget her kindly ways and gentle manner. Friends who have known her so long and relatives alike, will mourn her departure. Her active life was full of service for her home and her children, loving, guiding and planning for their welfare. In turn, in her last years, the children bestowed upon her every comfort and pleasure that it was possible to bestow upon a mother. Never were they forgetful of her goodness to them. They were inseparable and joys and sorrows alike were shared together. A truly good woman has gone to her last rest. Mrs. Caroline Goodwin was born in Taylorsville, Ky. January 12, 1841 and was called to her reward at the family home in Parsons, Kansas, on Feb. 2, 1930, aged 89 years and 21 days. She was united in marriage while yet a resident of Kentucky to Junius Goodwin on Nov. 24, 1861. To this union six children were born, two dying in infancy. The living children are, Lewis B. Goodwin, J. Hope Goodwin, and Mrs. Marie Gaddis of Parsons; and Arch Goodwin of Edna. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Leslie R. Goodwin of Parsons, Esther Goodwin of St. Louis, Mo., Junius Gaddis of New York City, Gordon Goodwin and Mrs. Clifford Rexwinkle of Edna, and one great grand child, Master Gordon Lee Rexwinkle. Mrs. Goodwin came to Labette county, Kansas with her family in 1871, first locating on a farm one and a half miles south of Edna. This farm is now owned by Scott Hines. The husband and father, Junius Goodwin passed from this life Aug. 16, 1902. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Goodwin has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Marie Gaddis and with her two sons, Lewis S. and J. Hope Goodwin. She was converted and united with the Baptist church at the age of 71 years and for 67 years has lived a consistent Christian life. The funeral took place from the Baptist church in Parsons, at 2 o'clock Monday, the pastor, Dr. W. B. Toliver preaching the funeral discourse. Interment in the Edna cemetery. - Obituary for Caroline Goodwin, taken from The Edna Sun, dated February 6, 1930 / parents:Moses Graham and Jane Wakefield (Russell) Graham (per Margaret #47526291)
