Written by Voncille (Helms) Miller in 2004:
I was born in Triplett, Missouri May 13, 1916. I lived in Marceline, Missouri while very young. I moved to Brookfield, Missouri in 1923 and attended all my school years there. I graduated Brookfield High School in 1935, in November of that same year I went to Kansas City, Missouri and attended business school; received my Diploma in June 1936 and began work at Commerce Trust Bank. I was employed there near eight years. I was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.

Married February 02, 1941 to Roy Neil Miller. I traveled with my husband in the states during World War II. At Ephrate Washington Air Force Base I was employed at the PX and Airplane Supply as a typist. I also worked at another base with record cards in Muroc, California. After my husband was discharged we settled in Johnson County, Kansas. Living in Mission, then Shawnee the remainder of my life.

Hobbies: love to make quilt tops, sew, crochet, garden, grow flowers, paint the inside and outside of my house and travel.

I worked at Thompson Hayward Chemical for thirty-five years as an accountant. I liked bookkeeping the best.

My father died in 1925, mother in 1961, my only daughter, Marylyn 1984, my only brother 1984, his wife 2001 and a niece, Beverly Ann Helms in 1920.

Surviving are my son-in-law, Bernie Huss, grandchildren, Matthew Huss and Samuel Huss, all of Lawrence, Kansas; [nephew] Daryl Helms and family of Lowes, Missouri and many cousins.
