Was drafted into the War of 1812, from Jasper County, GA, into the Creek Nation for three separate periods; in 1813 he served 2 or 3 months as an Indian spy; Ensign in Capt. John Smith's company, Wooten's detachment of militia 7 Aug 1814 - 7 Feb 1815 (185 days total); Commandant at Fort Perry in Georgia 12 Sept to 22 Nov 1814

11 Oct 1817, he was Captain of militia in the Seminole War in Florida and again in the 1818 Seminole War with Wimberly's 1st Regiment of Georgia Militia

He and Elizabeth had a twin to Rebecca, who was born and died 17 Feb 1831 in Newton Co., GA, Her name was Priscilla Hodnett.
