WELL KNOWN PIONEER PASSED AWAY SATURDAY
Mrs. Caroline Beilke, wife of Carl Beilke of the town of Stettin, died at the home of her son, John Beilke of the Town of Stettin, Saturday evening at 10:55 o'clock, after an illness of nine months. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the sons home and at 2:00 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Stettin, the Rev. P. Martin Pilz officiating. Burial was in the Stettin cemetery.
The deceased was born in Germany March 17, 1855. Two years later she came to this country with her parents and after living near Milwaukee for one year the family moved to Stettin. She was a resident of Marathon county for about sixty three years. The family was among the earliest settlers of the county and like all other pioneers endured many hardships.
Surviving are the widower, seven children, Mrs. Herman Dehnel and Mrs. Harry Mearek of Wausau, Mrs. Otto Koenig, Mrs. Herman Radtke, and John Beilke of the Town of Stettin, Emil Beilke of Pendelton, Ore., and Mrs. Henry Beilke of Buffalo, N.D., five brothers William, Chris and Herman Buttke of the Town of Stettin, Carl Buttke of Buffalo, N.D., and a sister, Mrs. August Beilke of the Town of Marathon; twenty seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
