George Franklin Dollahon (1841 ~ 1868)
George Franklin Dollahon was born Feb. 15, 1841, in Crawford Co. Illinois, United States, and he died July 23, 1886 in West Salem, Edwards, Illinois. He was a farmer, a soldier, and a horse-breeder. George was a 1st Lt. in Civil War, Co. F-62, he was captured by the South and made a prisoner of war, and he was released in 1862.

He was married to (1) Lucy Ann "Margaret" (Mayhue) Hale (1839-1878) on July 31, 1865, Margaret had a stepson Charles T. Hale age 8, from a prier marriage. She had been married in 1862 to John Hale, he died in 1865. His 1st wife and the mother of Charles was Elizabeth Hale 1832~1862.

The 1870 Census shows that George's father, Daniel Christopher Dollahon (who had been widowed in 1866) and his youngest brother Henry L. Dollahon, were living at Claremont, Richland, Illinois, with Margaret and George and that they had their first born child Henry Franklin Dollahon, he was age one. To their marriage were born 6 children 4 sons and 2 daughters.

Margaret died October 6, 1878, at the age of 38 years 10 months and 23 days. She died 6 days after the birth of their twin sons, Brise & Bruse; they were born October 1, 1878. Then sadly Brise died on October 25, 1878 and Bruse died on October 30, 1878. George was 37 and left with 4 children, Henry Franklin age 10, Margaret "Eva" age 7, Jerome William age 5, and Mary Kathleen "Kate" age 3.

Three months later, George was married to 23 year old Anna Marie Mabus (1856 ~ 1937) on January 2, 1879. They were the parents of 3 children 2 sons, Omer and Orville & a daughter Minnie "Dolly". Their son Omer died at age 6, he is buried by his father. George died (at age 45) 7 and half years after they married; Anna raised the 6 children on her own.

Eighteen years after George died and the children were raised Anna married Finn Xanders. She died at the age of 81; there is a grave stone that is the other half of George's, like 2 halves of a heart with her name and birth date, but there is no death date on it. She is buried in the Moravian Cemetery with her 2nd husband Fin Xanders. Her name and both her dates are on the Xanders grave stone.

Margaret and the twins Bruse and Brise, George, and Omer are all buried in the Pinhook Cemetery in Illinois.

George was the 2nd son of Daniel Christopher (1807-1877) and Jemima Ward (1810-1866) Dollahon.

According to the records of the Adjutant General's office in Springfield, Illinois, George Franklin Dollahon, age 24 years old, was 5ft. 9 in. tall, enrolled Dec 16, 1864 at Pine Bluff, Ark.
