Death Occurred Saturday at Home Near Manilla
Children Survive
Funeral services for Eugene C. Macy, 71 years old, who died at 3:30 o'clock Saturday evening at his home three miles north of Manilla, were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Little Blue River Wesleyan Methodist church north of Manilla.
The Rev. E. L. Glover, of Newcastle, former pastor of the church, officiated and burial was in the church cemetery in charge of Ezra Carmony, funeral director.
Death was caused by heart disease.
Mr. Macy was born Aug. 9, 1865 in the community where he died. He was the son of Julius and Amanda Folger Macy. His marriage to Miss Jane Powell took place Aug. 9, 1896. Four children were born. Three survive.
They are Lowell Macy of Rush county and Mrs. Russell Theobald and Mrs. Harry Theobald, both of Union township. He also leaves ten grandchildren and two brothers, Lanto Macy of Rushville and Lee of near Manilla. Mrs. Macy died Dec. 4, 1921.
On March 30, 1924 he was married to Emma Northam Rigsbee. Two step-children, Dr. Marvin Rigsbee of Marion and Mrs. Paul Miller of Manilla community, also survive.
Mr. Macy taught in the public schools for twenty years and had been a teacher in the Sunday school of the Little Blue River Wesleyan church, of which he was an active member, for thirty years.
