John William Reynolds, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at William Newton Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday. The family will greet friends from 6-7:30 p.m. He was born March 24, 1917, on the family farm in Pleasant Valley Township. He and his wife settled on the family farm, south of Winfield and raised cattle. He served the community more than 30 years as a school board member and president and as a director of The State Bank of Winfield for approximately 40 years.
Survivors include his son, John Richard Reynolds, Winfield; daughter, Rebecca Reynolds Messall, Centennial, Colo.; sister, Patricia Kirk, Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna (Ziegler) Reynolds; wife, Juanita (Looney) Reynolds; son, William (Bill) Lawrence Reynolds; brother, George Reynolds; sister, Mary Reynolds Elder; and an infant brother, Robert.
A memorial has been established for the Hackney Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home, Winfield.
