Bernie B. Sculley Nauerth, 86, of Manhattan, died March 17, 2009, at Stoneybrook Retirement Community, in Manhattan.

She was born April 15, 1922, in Ness County, Kansas, the daughter of Vern and Ivy (Prose) Slagle.

Bernie was a homemaker and was a wonderful seamstress. She enjoyed square dancing, quilting, growing flowers, truck gardening and was a member of the Hunter's Island Women's Group.

On March 21, 1941, in Dodge City, Kansas, she was married to Leonard W. Sculley. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1987. She later married Wesley Nauerth on November 24, 1990. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Floyd Slagle, and two sisters: Neva Bollinger and Velma Stout.

Survivors include two daughters: Neah Whipple and her husband Vyrl of Beeler, Kansas, and Bonnie Parker and her husband Elburn of Manhattan; one son, Ennis Sculley and his wife Susan of Eudora, KS; two brothers: Eldon Slagle of Manhattan, and Earl Slagle and his wife Wanda of Manhattan; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Slagle of Pratt, KS; six grandchildren: Belinda Fellhoelter, Layton Whipple, Jason Whipple, Jeff Parker, Angela Parker and Alison Sculley; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Sculley Nauerth donated her body to the Kansas University Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Reverend Kevin Larson officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Beeler Cemetery in Beeler, Kansas.
