David E. Putt, died at the home of his nephew, Frank Blake, April 2, 1926. He was one of twelve children, born to William and Margaret Putt. William, Henry, Abraham and Michael Putt, with their father, Henry, were among the pioneer settlers of this vicinity. The father Henry, built the first mill at the "Burnt Mill Place" where the Penn Central Light and Power plant now stands. Henry and Michael and his sons built mills at Puttstown, and near the Lewis Garlock mill. Abraham, owning and farming most of the land now called Stonerstown, known as "Putts Hollow," later building and moving to Puttstown, where he died. David Putt was a carpenter and has built many of the homes in Puttstown and vicinity. He was one of the old residents and will be greatly missed by his many friends. He was born February 23, 1848. He leaves two sisters. Mrs. Elizabeth Hollingshead, or Saxton; Mrs. Mary Blake, of East Saxton; one brother, Andy who lives on the old home place and an adopted son Raymond Putt, of Jersey Shore. His wife, Caroline (Dodson) Putt preceded him to the grave, three years ago.
