Bowman was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Salem, Ohio, a son of the late Clayson and Winnie (Gromley) Bowman, and had lived all his life in the Salem area.
He worked as a machinist for the Crane Deming Company in Salem, until he retired in 1981. He was also a member of the New Garden United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife, Violet (McGeehen) Bowman; his nine children and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor Enzie Wade and David Drevlow officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
