BLOOMINGTON -- Albert M. "Alby" Arendt, 92, of 209 Tanner St., Bloomington, died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday (June 17, 2004) at ManorCare Health Services, Normal.
His funeral was Saturday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. James Warren officiating. Burial was in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 401 W. Jefferson St., Bloomington, IL 61701.
He was born April 3, 1912, at Bloomington to Martin and Pearl Beeler Arendt. He married Mildred C. Eddy on Nov. 10, 1935, at Clinton. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Shirley (Dick) Wey, Carol Stephenson and Joe M. (Rebecca) Arendt, all of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Douglas Wey, Anthony (Lora) Wey, Steven (Lori) Groves, Thomas (Renee) Groves, Cathy Groves, Jon Groves, Andrew Stephenson, Angela (Terry) Boyd and Michelle (Bob) Taft; and 19 great-grandchildren.
His parents and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.
He was a member First Christian Church, Bloomington; Wade Barney Lodge 512 A.F. & A.M.; and the Bloomington Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He was a city of Bloomington firefighter for 20 years.
