Davenport

Services for Iva Mae Davenport, 86, of Milano and Rockdale were held Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Maroney of First Baptist Church in Cameron officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Davenport died Sunday, March 15, at her daughter's home near Milano.

She was born May 28, 1922, in Tabor, near Bryan.

She married Clarence Davenport Sr. on June 24, 1939, in Bryan.

Mrs. Davenport was a homemaker and had worked many years at Richards Memorial Hospital cafeteria.

She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale and she enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by her husband on May 31, 2005, her parents, four brothers and a sister.

Survivors are a son, Clarence Davenport Jr. and wife Jean of Milano; three daughters, Carol Gill and husband David of Milano, Janet Hirt of Rockdale, Debbie Maxey and husband Jeff of Porter; and a sister, Dorothy Arnold of Bryan; also, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Gerald Davenport, Donald Valenta, Robert Whitmore, Bryan Young, Todd Martin, Aaron Locke and Joshua Campbell.
