Elsinore, Sevier County - Dr. Waldo Jensen Gunn, 17, former Elsinore resident who was establishing an optometry practice in Los Angeles, California, died Friday after a swim at San Juan Capistrano, California of a heart attack.
He was born at Elsinore, Oct. 12, 1924 a son of Frank D. and Lillian Jensen Gunn. he attended elementary school at Elsinore and graduated from South Sevier High School at Monroe. A student at the University of Utah for tree years, he completed his education at the School of Optometry in Los Angeles, receiving his doctor's degree in May, 1951. For the past three months he had been practicing in Los Angeles.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was an active member of the Wilshire LDs Ward in Los Angeles, where he was an elder at the time of his death.
Survivors include his parents, two brothers; Hayes E. Gunn, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Blaine F. Gunn, Oakland, Cal.; and a sister, Shirley Joan Gunn, Elsinore.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel by Lorin P. Christiansen, bishop. burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under direction of the Neal S. Magleby Mortuary. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Elsinore Post No. 75, American Legion.
Friends may call at the family home Tuesday evening and Wednesday prior to services.
