Frederick Freeman was the son of Edmund Freeman and Martha Otis. He was described in the Eldredge Genealogy as "a man of great excellence of character, a magistrate and a prominent citizen." He resided on the paternal estate, and he also served during the American Revolution.

He married twice. His first wife was Abigail Thompson and his second wife was Abigail Dimmock.

The children from the first marriage were:

Olive, wife of Rodney Hanks
Edmund, husband of Esther Dimmock
Samuel, husband of Huldah Barrows
Abigail, husband of Daniel Barrows
Martha, wife of Ephraim P. Eldredge
Jerusha, wife of Horatio Hanks
Eunice, wife of Royal Storrs

Frederick Freeman died June 19th A.D. 1818 in the 63rd year of his age "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God" (on back of stone) Erected in 1881 by Charles Storrs in memory of his mothers father
