Ida Cecilia Mattson Johnson was born in Boone, Iowa where she lived all of her life. She was the daughter of Peter Mattson and Christina Johnson both of Sweden. Her parents immigrated to the United States in 1868. She had four brothers, Peter, Carl, Edward and Earnest. She married Henry Johnson March 1901 and had four children: Rudolph, Herbert, Enfred and Olivia. After Henry died in 1907, she married his brother Charles in 1909 and had seven more children: Carl, Lorraine, Pat, Eva, Arlene, Virginia and Betty.
Ida was a sweet person who loved her children and grand children. She lived 91 years and remained happy in spite of the many small tragedies of life.
