HERBERT H. JOHNSON (Ping), 81, of Janesville, Wisconsin died April 22, 1984 at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Milwaukee. He was born Dec. 25, 1902, at Boone, Iowa the son of Eric Johnson who immigrated from Bjorkberg, Sweden and Ida Cecilia Mattson born in Moingona, Iowa. He married Jeannette Reid of Boone, Iowa on Nov. 25, 1927, at Osceola, Iowa. She was the daughter of John Reid Jr. and Anna Fairgrave. He had two brothers, Rudolph Walford and and Enfred Evald Johnson and a sister Olivia Salina Johnson. He also had a half brother, Carl Dewitt Johnson and six half sisters, Luraine, Pat, Eva, Arlene, Virginia, and Betty Lou Johnson. He had three children, Robert Byron, Marilyn Ann (Nelson) and Thomas Standley Johnson. He was employed for 40 years in various supervisory capacities by General Motors Assembly Division at Memphis, Tenn., Cleveland, Ohio, and Janesville, Wisconsin before retiring in 1968. He was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church and its Men's Club; Masonic Lodge No. 14, Madison Zor Shrine and Scottish Rites bodies; Gebal Council No. 2 R.S.M.; R.A.M. No. 5; Order of Eastern star Chapter No . 69; Janesville Commandery No. 2 Knights Templar; Hope Court No. 11; Order of Amaranth and Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem. He worked hard all of his life, loved to laugh, built two houses for his family and lived a long and productive life.
