William Reifel, aged 86, died Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Minden, eight miles southeast of Paola. William Reifel was born in Belehim, Germany Province Brine, Nov. 29, 1845. with his parents he immigrated to America in 1851, settling near St. Louis.

In 1871 he came to Miami County, making his home in the Block neighborhood. Sept. 6, 1872, he was married to Pauline Kehn. To them nine children were born, of whom two, a son and a daughter, preceded him in death. The mother died July 23, 1894. The children left to mourn his death are George Reifel, Mrs. John Minden, Mrs. Herman Windler, Mrs. Theodore Neu, of the Block community; Martin Reifel, Newell, Iowa; Louis Reifel, Kansas City, and Mrs. John Koelsch, of Paola. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Reifel lived more than 60 years in Miami county, where he proved one of our best citizens - a valuable man for the county, honest and industrious, of a friendly and helpful disposition, he justly earned the respect of those with whom he became acquainted. A mighty fine man was William Reifel. His long life was most useful.

Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church at Block Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. O. C. J. Keller and Rev. H. J. Theel. Burial was in the cemetery near the church.
