He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was the eldest son of James Lawson Dove of Canon, GA and the late Effie Elliott Dove.
Surviving besides his father is his wife, Geneva Epps Ambrose Dove; one son, James Henry Dove, Jr.; one daughter, Clara Dove, both of Greenville,; one step-son, William W. Ambrose of Virginia; one step-daughter, Betty Mahaffey of Simpsonville; five brothers, Dillard L. Dove of Greenville, Alvin C., Thomas S. and Elmer L. Dove, all of Canon, GA, and Robert C. Dove of Seneca; three sisters, Louise Headen and Jean Headen, both of Greenville, and Eunice Dove of Royston, GA.
Funeral service held at Calvary Baptist Church and burial in Graceland Cemetery.
