Clemens Duane Lovik, 83, of Mitchell, died Sunday (March 15, 2009) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, following a lengthy chronic illness.
Born June 16, 1925, in Forest City, Iowa, he grew up in the Wapsi area and Floyd County, Iowa. From March 8, 1946, to Dec. 24, 1947, he served in the Pacific with the Navy. On June 22, 1957, he married Kathryn I. (Black); they were married until 1981.
Mr. Lovik worked at the Oliver Tractor Plant and White Farm in Charles City, Iowa, for 37-1/2 years, retiring in 1981. From 1999 until his death, he resided in Mitchell with his former wife, Kathryn.
He is survived by Kathryn Lovik; a daughter, Julie Lovik Lynch of Rochester; two sons, David (Jan) of Charles City and Scott (Mary) of Rudd, Iowa; two sisters, Ethel Holcomb of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dorothy Harris of Floyd, Iowa; and two brothers, Harley of Sherrill, Iowa, and Wayne (Virginia) of Floyd. Other survivors include grandchildren, Lee, Katie, Matthew, Justin, Caden and Morgan; and great-grandchild, Jack Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mayme (Winterton) Lovik; a brother, Howard; and a son-in-law, Jeff Lynch.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, Iowa, and an hour before the service Thursday at the church in Mitchell.
