Van Edward Fowler, 77, died Thursday at PIH after a short illness. He was born in Sheldon, Missouri, the eldest of 13 children of Edward G. and Matilda Jane Fowler.

He served with the 507th Coast Artillery during World War II. He was a member of the Order of Eagles No. 2090 and the First Christian Church in Mil, Mo.

Van came to the Klamath Falls area about 1920 and worked in various sawmills as a cut-oof man until his retirement in 1964.

He is survived by his brothers, Floyd and Beverly Sheldon, MO; Nelson, Hayward, CA; Willis L., Eldorado Springs, MO; and Clinton, Long Beach, CA; sisters, Bernell Wiles, Denver, CO; Mamie Finch, Ponca City, OK; Verna Mae Turk, Lodi, OH; Althea Humphrey and Georgie Griffith, both of Nevada, MO; Nanny Bell Moore, New Sharon, IA; several nephews and nieces, including Betty Meshke, Tulelake.

VAN E. FOWLER

Van E. Fowler is the son of Edward G. and Matilda Jane Fowler, Sheldon, Missouri.

At age 42 he enlisted and served as a private in Btry. G, 507 Coast Artillery (AA).

He was given an honorable discharge March 2, 1943, by the order of Colonel McNeely.
