WOMAN INSTANTLY KILLED WHEN CAR AND TRUCK CRASH FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS INCOMPLETE AWAITING ARRIVAL OF HUSBAND
Mrs. Willie Mae Davis, 29 years of age, 636 North Thirteenth street, was instantly killed shortly before 11 o'clock Wednesday night when the car in which she was riding alone, figured in a collision involving a truck at the underpass on Highway 75 near the city limits. Her death is the thirteenth auto fatality in Navarro county during 1941, but is the first within the city limits since Nov. 29, 1939, records reveal.
Funeral arrangements will not be completed until the arrival of her husband, Victor Davis of Corsicana, who was located shortly before noon by relatives, in Monte Vista, Colo. Mr. Davis was in Colorado on a business trip and left immediately for Corsicana.
He is expected to arrive sometime Friday afternoon.
The other vehicle involved, a City Packing Company truck, was driven by A. D. Anderson of Fort Worth, who escaped with minor bruises, officers said. The truck was badly damaged while the car driven by Mrs. Davis was reported by officers to have been demolished.
It was necessary to re-route traffic via North Beaton street tie-in for a time, it was stated, until the wreckage was clearer. Deputy Sheriff B. V. Hatley, highway patrolmen, Constable Lee and other officers answered that call and conducted investigations.
Survivors are her husband, three sons, Tommie, Bobbie and Jerry Davis, all of Corsicana; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Arnett, Cryer Creek; four brothers, Johnnie, J. T. and Frank Arnett, all of Corsicana, and Travis Arnett, Cryer Creek: and a sister, Mrs. Gladys Douglas, Corsicana.
Corley Funeral Home will be in charge.
