WAS 78 YEARS OLD
Died Following An Illness Of Several Months
S. C. Hickman, age 78, died at his home on the East Plains near McAdoo Monday morning following an illness of several months.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon t the home of the family, with the Rev. Pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Floydada officiating. Many friends of Hickman and the family filed through the house, paying the last tribute to one of the pioneer citizens of Crosby county.
He was buried in the Crosbyton cemetery, following the services Monday afternoon, with Aynes Undertaking Company in charge, and with Rix Undertaking of Lubbock assisting.
Hickman was one of the early settlers of this part of the country, having moved to a place near his present farm on the East Plains in 1900, coming here from the South. In the 29 years that he spent here he saw this country grow from a great ranch land to one of the greatest agricultural countries in the world. He acquired many acres of land, which he left to his family at his death.
Hickman was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Floydada. He is survived by four children, two boys and two girls. They are Mrs. Charlie Crausbay, Crosbyton; Mrs. John Callahan of the East Plains; Frank and Lloyd Hickman, both living on the East Plains.
