He married the former Geneva Mae Branyen on June 14, 1919, in Monroe, Mich. She died in June 1979. Mr. Long was a millwright at the Basic Refractories, retiring in 1965 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Quarter-Century Club of Basic Refectories. Survivors include children Gerald Long of Burgoon, Iva M. Burkin of Clyde, Gene Long of Burgoon, Cecil Long Jr. of Fremont and James D. Long of Fremont; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Daughters Eva Long and Dorothy Izzy; brother Archa; and sisters Belva Peake and Iva Mutchler are deceased.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wonderly Horvath-Haubert Funeral Home, with burial at Smith Cemetery in Jackson Township. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sandusky County Home Health, Easter Seals and Burgoon United Methodist Church.
