Jacob was born at Skull Creek, Butler County, Nebraska, to Elijah and Anna Belinda Sanders. He farmed and ranched outside of Gordon, Nebraska, and in Martin, South Dakota.

He was married to Mable Ettie Thayer, their children include: Elijah Percival, James W, Henry Carrolle, Rolie, and daughter Jesse (Jesse was given to his friend and neighbor William (Billy) and Minnie Beamer in 1909 after Mable was sent to the hospital), and his second wife was Margaret Ireland of Gordon, Nebraska.

In 1937, he passed away of a heart attack in a park at Saint Anthony, Idaho. He was found on a park bench. He had moved with his son Henry and family to work in the coal mines.

Dec 3, 1897-Jim Lawrie and Jake Sanders are working for Mills Bros. at their ranch in the hill, this week.
April 1, 1898-Billie Beamer and Jake Sanders made a flying trip to Whitman last week. Jack Sanders and Billy Beamer were visiting at Jim Thayer's Last week. Jake came down to make improvements on his claim. They went to Whitman to visit at Noah Crandall's. Mrs. Jim Thayer of the Spade Ranch was up visiting her brothers, Ben and Jake Sanders. She left her son Clint, who will attend school.
Aug 11, 1899-Jim Lawrie and Jake Sanders went to Merriman last week to stack hay for Tom Franks.
Jan 26, 1900-Jake Sanders has just returned from Butler, Co where he has spent the fall and winter.
July 6, 1900-Jacob W Sanders, 25, born in Butler Co, NE to Mable Thayer, 18, born in Butler Co, NE married on 2 Jul 1900. His folks are Elijah Sanders & Anna Rickard. Her folks are James P Thayer & Maria Cutshall. Monday eve July 2,1900, at Rushville. Judge Cooper officiating. Mr. Jake Sanders to Miss Mabel Thayer. The groom has been setting up the cigars with a lavish hand since. The Journal joins in congratualtions.
July 20, 1900-Jake Sanders wedding dance at Mrs Thayer's was an elaborate affair. A fine supper was served at midnight.
July 29, 1904 The new subscribers to our list since the last issue are JH wilson, Wellwood, Jacob W Sanders, Irwin, AW Beamer, Lamar, MO, Dr. GL Cremeens, Prof TL Knight and TM Huntinton.
Sept 23, 1904-Ben and Jacob Sanders from the west part of the county, were in to attend to some land business Monday.
