Wasilla resident Vernon E. Beinhorn, 78, died Nov. 18, 1995, at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage.

A memorial service was held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer on Tuesday with the Rev. Jonathan Rockey officiating. Interment was at Fort Richardson National Cemetery on Wednesday.

Mr. Beinhorn was born April 1, 1917, in New Prague, Minn., to Erwin Beinhorn and Gladys Castor. He had his schooling in Minnesota. Mr. Beinhorn served in the U.S. Navy.

He came to Alaska in 1988. He was a retired cabinetmaker and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

His family said: ''He was a man who knew what he wanted and went after it. He was always helping and giving to those less fortunate than he. He was devoted to spreading the word of God. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.''

Mr. Beinhorn is survived by his wife, Glorine Beinhorn of Wasilla; his daughters, Jeanne Berglund of Palmer, Gay Bohnsack of New Prague, Deborah Rook of Wichita, Kan., Aris Caron of Puyallup, Wash., LouAnn Shasteen of Longwood, Fla., Twyla Jones of Liberty, Mo., and June Beinhorn of Plymouth, Minn.; son, Randahl Beinhorn of Staples, Minn.; sisters, Leola Beinhorn of New Prague, Lois Holetz of Montgomery, Minn., and Gladdie Beinhorn of New Prague; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Wenger Beinhorn, in 1979, and a son, Keith LeRoy Beinhorn, in 1974.

Arrangements were handled by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
