Rev. Howard T. Bostic, age 83, of Route 1, Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Thursday morning at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Swords Creek, he was a son of the late James and Ida Miller Bostic.

He had served in the Freewill Baptist Church as a minister for over 40 years and during that time had served 11 churches as pastor.

At the time of his death, his church membership was at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church near Honaker.

He was also a retired coal miner, formerly employed by the Swords Creek Mining Company.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Eliza Mae Bostic and also two sons, Glen Bostic and J. P. Bostic.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mamie Bostic of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Annav Steele of Pennington Gap, Virginia; four sons, Lawrence Bostic and Clarence Bostic both of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Rev. Ralph Bostic and John L. Bostic both of Swords Creek; two step-daughters, Mrs. Bernice Matney of Gabon, Ohio and Geraldine Smith of Crestline, Ohio.

Two sisters, Mrs. Lola Miller and Mrs. Jettie Smith both of Swords Creek; one half-brother, Odell Bostic of Swords Creek; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen step-grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, thirty three step-great-grandchildren and eight step-great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Perkins and Rev. James Whited officiating. Interment followed in the Call-Bostic Cemetery near the home.

Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honaker Funeral Home was in charge.
