Doreen Ransom Hughes

Doreen entered the world in Puyallup on November 9, 1952, to parents LaVerne Marcoe Ransom and William B. "Bert" Ransom, both of whom preceded her in death. Doreen passed away at home in the company of her loving family, and in care of Franciscan Hospice, on March 12, 2009. She attended All Saints School and graduated from Puyallup High School in 1971. She is survived by children Corey and Amy Wecker and Kasie Hughes; her sister, Susan (Russ) Clary and brother Bill (Jill) Ransom; beloved grandkids Ayrin, Kristine, Larry and Brandon; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many, many cousins. Doreen enjoyed her home life, family and friends, reading, the occasional casino visit, her co-workers and her job as head cook at Prosperity Wellness Center. Doreen wanted to offer a special thanks to Dr. Oliveira and his staff for their care and kindness over these past 10 months. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to either Franciscan Hospice or Prosperity House in Doreen's name. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17 at Hill Funeral Home in Puyallup with viewing prior to the service. Interment will be at Sumner Cemetery followed by a potluck reception at the Puyallup Elks Club.
