George W. Williams, of New Salem township, died at his home last Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock after an illness of about a month, having had a stroke of paralysis from which he never rallied and for nine days preceding death he was in an unconscious condition. Mr. Williams' wife died about three years ago and since that time he had been living at the old home place with his youngest daughter, Miss Victoria Williams. Besides this daughter he is survived by three sons, L. S., J. W., and Bundy Williams, all of New Salem township, and four other daughters, Mrs. J. M. Stewart, of New Salem; Mrs. Robert Little of Marshville; Mrs. Will Rorie and Wilson Griffin, of Buford township. Mr. Williams was an excellent and substantial citizen, for many years a member of the Baptist church, having held his membership at Fairfield ever since that church's organization. He was a quiet, unassuming citizen, one whom his neighbors liked and respected, never having had a case in court in his life and always on the best terms with every one. A very large congregation attended funeral services at Fairfield Sunday afternoon. Rev. A. Marsh, Rev. T. P. Little and Rev. Mr. Hutchinson conducting the funeral services.
