STAUNTON-Mrs. Gertrude Glendye Lotts, 88, formerly of Staunton, died Sunday morning (Jan. 4) in Waynesboro Community Hospital.
She was born Jan. 8, 1898, in Bath County, a daughter of William Robert and Margaret Catherine Liptrap Glendye.
Mrs. Lotts was a member of Stonewall United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Dallas C. Loan and Donald H. Loan, both of Staunton, and Denver C. Loan of Bridgewater; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Elsie Chandler, Mrs. Isabel White, and Mrs. Eva Lee Sensabaugh, all of Staunton, Mrs. Bessie Glendye of Stuarts Draft and Mrs. Shirley Rankin of Florida; four stepsons, Wallace Lotts, Maryland Lotts and Robert Lotts, all of Staunton, and Jesse Lotts of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, William C. Glendye of Mt. Solon and George B. Glendye of Stuarts Draft; eight grandchildren and nine great-granddaughters.
Her first husband, Harvey A. Loan, preceded her in death in 1933, her second husband, John Elmer Lotts, in 1970, and one daughter, Reva R. Loan.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Stonewall United Methodist Church by the Rev. Betty A. Johnson, with burial in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be L. Cecil Crummett, Henry J. Kiser, Thomas Knott Jr., John B. Welcher, Charles P. Stanley and Lloyd Stanley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Glendye, Erby C. Loan, Harmon Glendye, James H. Glendye, Harvey Loan, Julian Loan and Leland Loan.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening in Hamrick Funeral Home.
