Gussie "Jewel" Shelton, 89, of Sanger passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, in Denton.
She was born on July 24, 1916, in Dallas to J.C. and Bertha Ellen (Farrar) Allen. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Stephenville where she taught the seniors Sunday school class.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the First United Methodist Church in Argyle.Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Butler of Garland, and Beverly Ruff and husband Don of Sanger; son, Robert "Bob" Shelton and wife JoAnn of Denton; grandchildren, Ralph Butler Jr. and wife Kayann, Donna Bell, Brenda Hart and husband Jeff, Becky Avery, Brad Shelton and wife Elise, Stacy Gee and husband Steve, Darla Woods and husband Tim, Tammy Chick and husband Bill, and Kevin Shelton; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Allen; brothers, R.L. Allen, J.C. Allen Jr. and Jack B. Allen; sisters, Ruby Davis and Jo Rhodes; and one son, Kenneth Larry Shelton.
