WOODRUFF, SC - William Pierce Cook, age 97, formerly of 703 Cooper Bridge Road, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Magnolia Place of Greenville.

Born in Fountain Inn on February 22, 1909, he was the son of the late Luther Stepp and Neva Cooper Cook, and the widower of Juanita Westmoreland Cook.

He was a self-employed farmer and businessman, the oldest member of Bellview Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher, deacon, treasurer and Sunday school superintendent. He was also a former Crescent and District Four school board member.

Mr. Cook is survived by two sons, William Carol Cook and wife, JoAnne, of Marietta, Georgia, and Wilton Pierce Cook and wife, Pat, of Bamberg; two daughters, Yvonne Cook Norris and husband, the Rev. George Norris, of Woodruff, and Anne Cook Smith and husband, Raymond "Maxie" of Woodruff; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark William Norris.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, at Bellview Baptist Church, before the 2 p.m. funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Ray Mims and the Rev. George Norris.

Interment will follow in the Bellview Church Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes.
